Abstract

This article presents some of the most significant results from several studies dedicated to privatization of state-owned enterprises. Here are some important aspects focused in this article: a) updating information about perceptions on economic reform up to 2002, specifically: social perceptions on privatization, perceptions on privatization pace, public opinion on the conditions of inefficient state enterprises; b) determining the main social effects of privatization, both positive and negative; c) people participation to the national program of mass privatization. The source of data is represented by CURS polls carried out after 1990 using national representative samples. The analysis tried to evidence main opinions of interviewees not only at the national level, but also on regions.
