Abstract

The study proposes a theoretic model for explaining collective action, using as a starling point the theories of rational choice and of social capital. The model was tested using structural analysis for a case study of the Association of the Orchardists of Dâmboviţa. The case is interesting not only because it represents an exceptional occurrence in our country (that of a professional association in the rural area), but also because it offers a model for the development of other regions of the Romanian rural area.
