Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The article focuses on the status and functionality of the monoparental family from a comparative perspective. The main dimensions considered here are the family size and the psychological and relational problems associated with monoparental families. A substantial paragraph is dedicated to the situation of monoparental families in Romania, regarding demographic indicators, support systems and social policies.
