Sociologie Românească https://arsociologie.ro/revistasociologieromaneasca/sr
Sociologie Românească (Romanian Sociology Review) is the official journal of the Romanian Sociological Association. First established in 1936, by the renowned (Romanian) scholar Dimitrie Gusti, the founder of the Sociological School of Bucharest, the Romanian Sociology Review is dedicated to promoting sociological knowledge and inquiry related to a broad-range of social processes. Covering different topics and domains, including social change, social development, social history, social policy, demography, gender studies, political issues, social inequalities, education, organization & labour studies, criminology and migration studies, the review’s focus is oriented towards (but not limited to) empirical research from a sociological and historical approach.
Sociologie Românească is published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

ISSN 1220-5389
E-ISSN 2668-1455
en-US contact@revistasociologieromaneasca.ro (Sociologie Românească) support@revistasociologieromaneasca.ro (Eugen Glăvan) Mon, 27 Nov 2023 14:39:53 +0000 OJS 3.1.2.4 http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss 60 On the Possibility of a Conceptual Model of Quality of Life https://arsociologie.ro/revistasociologieromaneasca/sr/article/view/1787
Up to now, quality of life (QOL) research has been guided by several conceptual frameworks that allow for the generation of rather general approaches to QOL with very fragmented explanatory contributions, while no specific conceptual models can be identified in the literature. This paper, which is based on a critical review of mainstream literature, aims to highlight the main difficulties in building a conceptual model of QOL and to propose a model that can overcome some of the current issues. The difficulties in constructing such a conceptual model stem mainly from the variety of definitions and the range assigned to the concept of QOL, the consequent operationalisation of the concept, the relativity and multidimensionality of the concept and the subsequent problems with unidimensional measures. This paper proposes a conceptual model that adopts an individual perspective on the theoretical construct and introduces several novel ideas for building a comprehensive explanatory framework for QOL. The following developments and improvements are suggested with the purpose of clarifying the intricate field of QOL research and closing in on a conceptual model: honing in on essential dimensions instead of constantly expanding the concept, increasing the effort put into theorising about QOL, adopting a life course perspective, generating longitudinal data and utilising research on agency. There is a high need for the development of a conceptual model of QOL and the concurrent integration of QOL approaches, at least at the European level, as this would contribute to fostering the advancement of the QOL research field and highlighting core European values regarding QOL standards.
Iuliana Precupețu Copyright (c) 2023 Romanian Academy Publishing House https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://arsociologie.ro/revistasociologieromaneasca/sr/article/view/1787 Sun, 26 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Modele de dezvoltare identitară în familii minoritare etnic/multiculturale de surzi https://arsociologie.ro/revistasociologieromaneasca/sr/article/view/1788
Although the existence of internal ethnic diversity within Deaf communities is recognized by several authors, there has been less analysis of the impact of the ethnicity of marriage partners on the development and transmission of identity within Deaf families. This paper addresses language use and crossgenerational identity transmission in ethnic minority or ethnically mixed families set up by Deaf spouses living in Oradea (Romania). The research conducted in the Deaf community of Oradea is based on a survey of ethnic Hungarian Deaf community members (including ethnic Romanian spouses), lifepath interviews with selected Deaf individuals, and family case studies. The research results denote that in the case of Deaf people living in ethnically homogenous marriages who have graduated from a special school in Hungarian language, the transmission of Hungarian identity, knowledge of Hungarian sign language/oral language tends to be a natural, undisturbed process. However, if one of the spouses is of Romanian ethnicity, the language of communication within the family will probably be Romanian sign language/oral language. On the other hand, in families where both minority and majority ethnic family members, Deaf and hearing, are present, complex, multifaceted patterns of linguistic communication may operate, favoring specific multicultural ways of developing and transmitting identity.
Research in recent decades examining the correlates of educational outcomes highlights the role of religiosity in students' academic progress and achievements. An increasing number of recent studies in the field of education confirm this hypothesis, the one of the positive influences of religiosity on behavior and attitudes with a positive effect on the achievement of educational goals and academic results. As such, denominational schools are also under the attention of many researchers who observe differences between these religious schools and other, non-religiously affiliated schools. The sociological literature even speaks of a „religious school effect”, inspired by the original idea of the „Catholic school effect”, stressing that beyond the impact of individual religiosity on school outcomes, mediated mainly by attitudinal and psychosociological effects, there are also moderators at the institutional level resulting from the specificity of denominational schools. In the present study we test these two hypotheses simultaneously by modeling the learning averages of a large sample of 8th graders in Bihor County, Romania, using simple linear regression. Our results confirm what we have already found in previous studies, namely that personal religiosity has a positive effect on learning outcomes, while a separate effect at the institutional level cannot be shown.
Iosif Viorel Curta, Smaranda Liana Cioban-Kudelca, Adela Lazăr, Beáta-Fatime Gyarmati, Adrian Hatos Copyright (c) 2023 Romanian Academy Publishing House https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://arsociologie.ro/revistasociologieromaneasca/sr/article/view/1789 Mon, 27 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Albumul de fotografii – un memorator al vieții de familie https://arsociologie.ro/revistasociologieromaneasca/sr/article/view/1790
This study explores the meanings currently ascribed to family photographs and albums and aspects of photograph collecting and album making behaviour. Current ways of storing photographs are presented as well as highlighting perceptions of the durability over time of these new forms of storage. The study is exploratory in nature, based on empirical research through the conduct of ten (structured) interviews conducted between August and September 2021. The results of the study show the multitude of meanings attributed to family photo albums, namely: reminiscence of moments in family life, reconstruction of family biography, communication between generations, knowledge of ancestors (great-grandparents, grandparents, parents) in different stages of their lives, establishing a link with the past and building family identity, family history and, last but not least, emotional, nostalgic or joyful meanings, aspects that strengthen the family. At the same time, the study highlights new forms of photo preservation - the shift from print to digital photography, including digital albums. The research also reveals perceptions of the durability of digital albums over time by recognising both positive and negative aspects. The article contributes to the development of research on family photographs and albums in Romanian society, highlighting the importance of the family album and considering it as an object of sociological research.
Elisaveta Drăghici Copyright (c) 2023 Romanian Academy Publishing House https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://arsociologie.ro/revistasociologieromaneasca/sr/article/view/1790 Mon, 27 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Științele sociale între angajament și distanțare. To better improve the strategic scientific management, the author dives into the history of an important Romanian research institute, the Romanian Academy, and into its management style in relation to the research developed. To substantiate the results, and to support the development of the formula that underpins the decision-making process in the management of a scientific institution, the author uses actual scientific literature, corelated with the research carried out among the research and technical staff of the Romanian Academy in Iași. The most important takeaway of this scientific paper is the PRA-nX formula used to facilitate decision making in terms of economic management for better scientific performance.
Mădălina Căpraru Copyright (c) 2023 Romanian Academy Publishing House https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://arsociologie.ro/revistasociologieromaneasca/sr/article/view/1794 Mon, 27 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Social media influencerii și rolul lor publicitar.
